Tony Solis | Great race! I was encouraged by my daughter Kristi Harris to run this fun run and I am glad I did!  I enjoyed every step of the run.  It had been many, many years since I last ran through Shannon Springs Park.  Thanks to the organizers and all the vlounteers!  Congratulations to all the participants!

Olivia Noland | This morning I ran the first ever Christmas Carroll 5K in honor of Rod Carroll and his family.  Mr Carroll was my school counselor in elementary school.  Being the ornery and needy child I was, I was in his room quite often for life advice.  With his words, he taught me things such as how to handle unexpected situations, how to be successful in school, and that it's okay to have more than one best friend (which, let's be honest, every 2nd grade girl needs to hear at one point or another).  But by his actions, he taught me how to be kind-hearted and caring.  He taught me that our actions effect not only our own life, but those around us.  He exemplified the role as a nurturing school counselor to a "T", and his huge impact on my life and many other students lives is one of the main reasons I decided to become a school counselor as well.  I cannot wait to be able to have my Master's in May and set forth to make half the impact on others lives.  As a current educator, and for anyone working with children/students it is vital to understand the impact we can have on a student, if only we live the words we teach.  I am forever grateful for Rod Carroll and his impact on my life!  Let us strive to have such an impact on others lives around us -- especially the students we encounter every single day!  I cannot wait to run again next year!

On behalf of the Chickasha Optimist Club, with the assistance of the Chickasha Runners Club, we would like to invite you to the 2nd Annual Christmas "Carroll" 5K and One Mile Fun Run/Walk on December 3, 2016. Our goal is to raise funds for scholarships for deserving Chickasha High School Seniors, promote physical fitness within the Chickasha Community, and to honor the memory of Rod Carroll.

Rod was an active member of the Chickasha Optimist Club at the time of his death. His passion was working with kids and families, and he made a positive impact through his work as a school counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and as a Minister of the Gospel for many years in the Chickasha and Ninnekah Communities.
Rod enjoyed running and his goal was to be able to participate in various 5K events. He was a beloved husband, father, poppy, and a friend to many. He always had a ready smile, a love for life, and a servant's heart. Rod lost his life on March 1, 2014, when he stopped to assist a car that had wrecked on the icy H.E. Bailey Turnpike. He died doing what he did best-helping others and being a Good Samaritan.
